Launching QTP kills Axe run monitor and/or Axe process

Introduction

This self-solve article provides information on the issue faced that when launching a QTP test it may cause the Axe Run Monitor and/or Axe process to crash.

HP QTP AddIn selection

On some environments loading multiple QTP AddIns can cause unstable behaviour. In the case of Axe, as a .NET application, this may be due to the .NET AddIn being selected when not required.

HP recommends only loading the required QTP Addins for the given test.

NB – An ASP.NET Application does not require the .NET AddIn to be loaded as it presents itself in a browser and  the Web AddIn will suffice.
