Problem restarting Firefox

Versions:

Axe 3.1.0.1398
Firefox 3.0.8
QTP 10.00.0.0 Build 513
Windows XP SP3

There are two parts to this issue:
 - random fail to close the browser
 - fail to close a browser with 2 or more tabs open

First issue seems random. Script before fails in one way or the other and the following script fails to restart a browser.
There is a non random twist to this issue. If home page fails to load and a script fails on the base state the following script will always fail to restart the browser.

The second issue makes recovery from issue one impossible. When a script fails to close the browser, it tries to continue regardless. It tries to open the home page and so opens new tab. I have disabled the closing prompt but it made no difference.

These make running tests unattended a waste of time as due to a sheer number of scripts it's bound to fail at some point.

Help will be much appreciated.

Hi Rad,

In my experience, QTP's support for Firefox has been a bit hit-and-miss. I dont think HP have got it to the same degree of stability and robustness as their IE integration. It always seems to be several versions behind the latest Firefox too.
We have experienced occasional rogue issues with QTP and Firefox (3.0.17) but they are very hard to pin down. Ideally what we need is a reliable scenario to repro with a simple QTP script that can be raised with HP support. I dont believe there is an issue with Axe here as it is just running the same QTP vbscript which is supposed to be generic. I am planning on taking a closer look at QTP11 with Firefox in the coming weeks so will let you know if I find anything new.

Is at an option to run your tests with IE instead of Firefox?
