INFO: Axe 4.0 Released

Odin are pleased to announce the general availability of the groundbreaking Axe 4.0 release.

Release Highlights:

Newly designed user-interface - Integrated Testing Environment (ITE)

The whole user interface and experience has been changed to allow clear visibility of all the assets required when writing and designing tests, in a modern, familiar, industry standard dockable interface. This builds on concepts introduced in the v3.5 Test Designer standalone editing tool, which has been enhanced to allow features like drop-down selection of items in the spreadsheets, e.g. test actions and subtest names, as well as drag and drop capabilities between asset views.

ALM Connectivity functionality is incorporated in the ITE

Embracing the single user interface view of v4.0, the UI will be connected to an ALM tool directly without using separate utilities to move project assets. Interactions with ALM tools all occur within the same UI without context-switching.

Axe assets can be created and maintained in the ITE in a "connected" fashion

This final piece of the jigsaw means the tester can create, maintain and use all of the Axe assets required to produce automated Axe scenarios (Scripts and Documentation) whilst remaining in the Axe ITE without switching to other applications or editing tools. This results in higher productivity in creating automated tests. Based on the DRY (Don’t Repeat Yourself) principle, assets names should not need to be typed in multiple times and users should not need to remember asset names to find and use them.

Selenium Bundled with Axe and new Object Mapping Tooling

Axe v4.0 ships with Selenium WebDriver bundled and pre-configured and introduces the Axe Object Mapper, providing the ability to build object maps for Selenium which can then be maintained within the Axe ITE in the same way in which other tools are managed. Combined with our AxeHarness this provides an out of the box Web and SOA testing solution.
